Parents shouldn't worry about consenting to their daughters having the HPV vaccine.

That's from Rathfriland GP Donal O'Shaughnessy.
He's responding to claims parents are not properly informed of side effects.
It follows the recent round of requests from schools for parental consent.
Two injections are given to twelve and thirteen year-old girls over six months.
The NHS says it's to combat human papilloma viruses, linked to cervical cancer.
Newry lifestyle coach Joanne Callan claims an information leaflet listing twenty-one side effects is not given to parents.
She believes they need it to be well-informed before they give consent.
But Doctor O'Shaughnessy says the information parents need is available.
