The captains recruited for the Carlingford Ferry are not yet cleared to pilot the vessel.

It comes as news of a further delay to cross-border ferry's first sailing may stretch to three weeks.

It was meant to launch at the beginning of the month, but late delivery of navigational aids is pushing the date back.

CEO Pamela Houston says the experienced captains can only be tested and certified once the aids are in place.
