Youths threw objects at cars along the Madams Bank Road, between Ballyarnett and the Foyle bridge on Friday night.
One driver was coming home from visiting his ill mother in hospital when his car was attacked.
Local councillors have condemned the attacks.
Brian Tierney has said a number of youth groups will be on the stretch of road trying to stop youths from attacking cars.
The groups will be trying to get the young people off the streets and into a number of programmes they have set up.
