Castlewellan student left "help me" message during fatal fire

A young county Down woman left a message calling for help - just hours before her body was discovered in a house fire.

Nineteen year old Ellen Finnegan was found in a bedroom at her mid-terrace home on Lower Square in Castlewellan in January.

Today a coroner found the cause of death was smoke inhalation and heard the property had no smoke alarm.

The coroner also heard Ellen left a friend a voicemail which simply said "help me" - but the message wasn't picked up until the following day.

Speaking outside Newtownards courthouse, Nicole Keenan, who was one of the last people to see the young student alive, paid tribute to her...
