The council's requesting a meeting with the Education Authority over plans to axe three local outdoor pursuits centres.
Killowen, Ardnabannon and Delamont are earmarked for closure in a bid to cut costs.
The centres are used mainly by schools, sports clubs and for outdoor pursuits.
Councillor Andrew McMurray who works at the Ardnabannon facility told Q Radio "the closures are not confirmed".
A twelve-week consultation period will end next month.
