Elderly woman 'pushed' and 'held down' as masked men break in to Newtownabbey home

A woman in her 80s has been left "extremely shaken" after a gang of masked men broke into her Newtownabbey home last night.

The three intruders pushed the woman out of the way when she opened the door of the property in the Glenvarna Drive area shortly after 9pm.

One of them then held her down while the others searched her house.

They left with a sum of money.

 

A police spokesperson said:

The woman was not physically injured as a result of the incident but was left extremely shaken by her ordeal.

This was a deplorable act by unscrupulous individuals preying on a vulnerable lady and detectives are asking for the public’s assistance to help apprehend those responsible.
