Families have been left out of their homes in the latest security alert in Derry Londonderry.

It's the third such alert in just 24 hours.

A pipe-bomb style device has been found outside a house belonging to the elderly parents of a serving PSNI officer.

The Bomb Squad is at the scene in the Lone Moor Road area.

Emmett Doyle is among the people affected.

Yesterday - a hoax device was found outside the home of a PSNI officer's parents on Drumleck Drive.

While overnight - several houses in Inishown Gardens were evacuated over a similar incident.

Meanwhile, masked youths have attacked officers at a security alert outside the home.

Officers came under fire from youths pelting bottles, stones and masonry as colleagues dealt with the device at the home on the Lone Moor Road.
