As of yesterday (Monday 6th March), police officers in Fermanagh and Omagh will be equipped with Body Worn cameras.
Through using the technology the policing service are putting victims of crime first, by using the cameras as a form of their defense.
They can be used to provide video evidence from the scene of a crime, showing exactly what happened.
This will enable the raw emotion and action to be shown and replayed in courts to back up or challenge a statement.
The introduction of the Body Worn cameras is a step towards increasing public confidence in the police service within the district. Further using these principles to try and work with the community and keep them safe.
