A Requiem Mass for the murdered teenager Fionntan McGarvey will be held in St. Brigid's Church, Derryvolgie Avenue, Belfast today at noon.

The 18-year-old died following an assault in the Finaghy Road North area of the city last month.

He was attacked outside a licensed premises in the early hours of December 27 and died almost a month later in hospital.

His family have said they are devastated, but that they are taking comfort in the fact that he got to donate his organs to other families.

A minute silence was held by all clubs in the south Belfast football league over the weekend as a mark of tribute to him.

Tributes to the "popular" 18-year-old have also been paid across social media, with his GAA club St. Brigid's describing him as a "friend to many".

A 21-year-old man had been arrested as part of an investigation into his death, but was later released.
