Firefighters have brought a blaze under control at the Bombardier aerospace factory in east Belfast.

The fire broke out just after 6 0’clock yesterday evening in a building which houses production for the C series jet.

It's understood a machine caught fire prompting half a dozen fire appliances, including an aerial ladder, to rush to the sprawling Airport Road site.

No one was hurt but the extent of  the damage isn’t clear.

In a statement last night the company said a small fire was brought under control quickly and the company foresees minimal impact to production.

"“We can confirm that the fire brigade was called to our Airport Road West facility this evening in response to a small fire. The fire was quickly contained with no injuries. We foresee minimal impact to production.”
