Fundraising page for Bangor assault victim closed down

An online fundraising page setup for a teenager who was filmed as she was seriously assaulted in Bangor has been shut down.

The 'just-giving' page was set up by Susan Durrant after the attack last Friday, which was then widely shared on social media. 

Before being closed down last night, the page had raised more than £3,000 for the 16 year-old victim.

She was left with serious facial injuries after being repeatedly kicked and punched on the town's harbour.

Medical staff said some of the injuries were so severe they may not be able to take X-Ray images for several days. 

For legal reasons, Ms.Durrant could not comment on exactly why the page has been taken offline, but she told Q Radio she understands all of the donors should automatically get their money back.

Earlier this week three people were remanded in custody charged in connection with the incident.

Eighteen-year-old Cora Campbell, from English Street, Downpatrick, a 17-year-old male and 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a judge at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on Monday.

All three were charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

The 17-year-old was further charged with aiding and abetting grievous bodily harm, and assault.

All three defendants were remanded in custody to appear at Newtownards Magistrates' Court via video-link on May 11.
