The housing executive is taking measures in response to a spate of oil tank fires in Newcastle.

The latest in Burrendale Park Road three weeks ago resulted in residents being rehoused.

Four fires on the housing estate in the past twelve months, have resulted in around fifteen burned out flats.

The housing executive has confirmed plastic oil tanks in the area will now be replaced with metal ones.
