Man, 22, for court after attempted knife robbery

Charges against the 22 year-old include being in possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting police.

A man's to appear in Newry Magistrates court this morning (Monday) charged with attempted robbery.

The 22 year-old also faces charges including possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.

It's after a lorry-driver was threatened by a man with a knife as he was unloading at Buttercrane Quay early yesterday. 

He managed to lock himself in the lorry's cab.

Police arrested the 22 year-old who was found a short distance away on the Dublin Road.
