A 63-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the 2019 murder of Lyra McKee in Derry/Londonderry.
Officers made the arrest this morning under the Terrorism Act and he has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast for questioning.
Yesterday, detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of the 29-year-old journalist, who was shot dead by terrorists in Derry/Londonderry on 18 April 2019, charged a 53-year-old man with riot, assault, and throwing petrol bombs.
He is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court today.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
A 44-year-old man also arrested on Friday was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
