Man charged after £1,500 of suspected cocaine found in Bessbrook, co Armagh home

£1,500 worth of suspected cocaine has been found after the PSNI searched a house in County Armagh.

Detectives also discovered a number of fireworks during this morning's raid in the O'Donoghue Park area of Bessbrook village.

A 25-year-old man's been charged with Class A drugs offences and he's due before Newry Magistrates Court next month.

PSNI Detective Inspector Millar said: "We are committed to tackling the issue of drugs and would appeal to the public to speak to us if they have any concerns or information regarding drugs in their area. The number to call is 101. 

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

A spokesperson for the service told Q Radio: "Detectives have charged a 25 year old male with possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possessing fireworks without a licence. 

"He is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 May. 

"The charges are in connection with a proactive search of a house in O’Donoghue Park area of Bessbrook this morning by detectives from Criminal Investigations Branch organised crime unit this morning. Approximately £1500 of suspected cocaine and a number of fireworks were seized during the search."
