A 30-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences including attempted murder and hijacking following an incident in Forkhill, South Armagh this week.
It's understood an alleged attacker accidentally shot himself while trying to chase another man.
The incident occurred in the Park Urney area on Tuesday evening, when a gang of men arrived and attacked another man parked in a car.
The targeted man, aged 54, was hit on the head with a gun as he tried to run away.
This led to one of the suspected attackers chasing him but falling and sustaining a gunshot wound to the stomach.
The 37-year-old was later dumped at Newry's Daisy Hill Hospital in a blue Honda Accord which left him and sped off.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old suspect will appear before Newry Magistrates Court later this morning (Saturday 19th October).
As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
