A man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a fight in Belfast city centre in the early hours of this morning.
The 31 year old was taken to hospital following the incident in Donegall Street before 1am.
Police say the case is being treated as murder and part of the city centre has been closed for examination.
A 32 year old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Geoffrey Boyce is leading the investigation.
He said “We are aware that there would have been quite a number of people in the Donegall Street area at the time that this incident occurred and we are keen to speak with as many witnesses and passers-by as possible."
