Man due in court following arson attack in east Belfast

A 37-year-old has been charged with endangering life with intent following an arson attack in east Belfast. 

A pile of wood was placed in a flat in the Mount area before being set on fire on Wednesday. 

The suspect will appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today. 

A 24-year-old who was also arrested has been released on bail. 

A PSNI spokesperson said: ''Officers investigating a report of arson at residential premises in the Mount area of east Belfast on Wednesday, 16 September have charged a 37 year old man with a number of offences including arson endangering life with intent.

''He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court today, Friday, 18 September.

''As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

''A 24 year old man who had also been arrested has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.''
