A man in his 40s has been struck on the head and sustained cuts to his face after being assaulted in his east Belfast home overnight.
Two men armed with baseball bats and knives forced entry to the property in the Moorgate Street area, shortly before 00.50am this morning.
It is believed the suspects were wearing dark clothes and the faces covered and damaged a TV set in the property during the incident.
Detective Sergeant Corrigan said: “A male occupant aged in his 40s in his inside the property was assaulted receiving cuts to his face and is believed to have been struck on the head.
"The male received injuries that are not believed to be serious.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between 10pm on Monday 11th May and 00:50am on Tuesday 12th May, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 78 12/05/20.
"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
