A man in his 60s is being treated in hospital after being beaten and knocked unconscious following an assault in Kilkeel., Co. Down.
The victim was attacked by another man at the junction of Mourne Esplanade and Manse Road at around 10.45pm last night (Sunday).
The man was kicked and punched a number of times.
He received first aid at the scene and was later taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries and is continuing to receive treatment.
Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The PSNI is appealing for those with information to contact officers on 101.
