Two men have appeared in court this morning, one on suspicion of attempted murder.
It follows an "horrific" attack in the Banbridge area on Friday at around 4pm, that has left a man in a critical condition in hospital.
A 20-year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH with intent, criminal damage and assault on police.
A second man aged 22, was also arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.
Detective Sergeant Colin Patterson said, "A man in his 40s was treated in hospital for head and facial injuries as a result of this incident."
The charge was changed to attempted murder yesterday after both men when interviewed in police custody.
