A 36-year-old man is in hospital after a serious assault in Belfast.

It happened in the Parkend Street area in the north of the city around a quarter past eight last night.

The man was attacked with a bottle and received injuries to his head, as well as deep cuts to his arms and back- but they're not thought to be life-threatening.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-30s, bald and wearing a blue top and grey track bottoms with blue or black stripes down the sides.

He left the address around twenty past eight and was seen heading towards the Alexandra Park area- police are appealing for information.

A 35 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and is in custody helping police with their enquiries.
