Man jumps from window to escape from armed intruders in Newtownards

A man's been taken to hospital after jumping from a first-floor window in Newtownards to escape from armed intruders.

Two men carrying a hammer broke in to the property in the Old Market Square area in the early hours of this morning.

They assaulted two other men and one woman who were  inside.
 

 

A PSNI spokesperson said:

At approximately 1.45am it was reported that two men wearing hoods and carrying a hammer, had broken into the property and assaulted three occupants (two men and one woman).  A fourth occupant (male) jumped from a first floor window to escape the intruders.  He has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained as a result of this.

Detectives would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or anyone who has information that could assist police with their enquiries to contact them at Bangor on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 166 16/12/18.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
