A man has been robbed by an armed gang in north Belfast.

The victim was walking on Duncairn Avenue near the corner of Antrim Road when he was approached by three masked men carrying a knife and a hammer.

They made off after demanding a sum of money just after 12am yesterday morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are appealing for information after the report of a robbery in north Belfast during the early hours of Saturday morning in which a man had a sum of money stolen from him.

"Police received a report just before 4:50pm that just after midnight a man who was walking on Duncairn Avenue, at the corner of Antrim Road, was approached by three males, all of whom had masks on their faces.

"One of the men produced a knife while a second male had a hammer.

"They demanded money from the man and threatened him. The males then fled with a sum of money."

Detective Sergeant Duffield added: “While the victim was not physically injured, he was left badly shaken by his ordeal.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area and saw what happened, or anyone who has information which could assist our investigation, to get in touch with detectives at Musgrave on 101 and quote reference number 1425 of 11/07/20.”
