A man's suffered a serious head injury after being struck with a bottle in his North Belfast home.

Three men forced their way into the property in the St Aubyn Street area in the early hours of this morning.

Another man inside the house was also punched.

Detective Sergeant Conlan said:

“At approximately 4.30am police received a report that three men had pushed their way, past the male occupant and his friend, into the property . The occupant sustained a severe injury to the side of his head after being struck with a bottle, and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.  His male friend was punched and, although uninjured, was also left badly shaken."

“A mobile phone was stolen during the incident."

“It is believed the suspects are aged between early to mid-twenties.  One is described as wearing a white tracksuit jacket with blue stripes on the sleeves and dark tracksuit bottoms."

“We are appealing  to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area around that time, to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 510 of 02/06/19.”

"Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
