A man with a hammer has threatened staff and stolen cash from a takeaway in Derry Londonderry.

The PSNI says the robber covered his face as he targetted the premises on Clooney Terrace just before 10pm last night.

He is said to have made off the direction of Bond Street.

Detective Sergeant Moore said “Shortly before 10:00 pm it was reported that a man entered the premises with a hammer and threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash in the direction of Bond Street. The man had his face covered with a red & black scarf.

Adding that "Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1301 11/04/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
