Two people assaulted in North Belfast aggravated burglary

Masked intruders have assaulted a man and woman at a house in North Belfast.

Two men - one armed with a suspected fire arm - carried out the attack on Ligoniel Road just before 8.30 last night.

A 39 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Police say the victims didn't sustain any serious injuries.

 

 

A PSNI spokesperson said:

"Police have arrested a 39 year old male on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an incident at a house on Ligoniel Road in north Belfast last night, Friday 15 February."

"It was reported that shortly before 8.25pm, two masked males, one of whom was reported to have been carrying a suspected firearm,  entered a house in the area and assaulted the male and female occupant.  The males then made off along Ligoniel Road in the direction of Thornberry.  The 39 year old suspect was arrested a short time later and remains in police custody at this time.  The male and female did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of the incident."
