Sinn Fein has boycotted Mid and East Antrim's Council Meeting, in a Martin McGuinness commemoration row.

Councillors James McKeown and Patrice Hardy walked out at the start of last night's monthly meeting in the Braid complex.

It had just failed to hold a minute's silence for the late former deputy first minister and ex-IRA leader.

But Mayor Audrey Wales did refer to the widespread shock over his passing.

Councillor McKeown believes Mid and East Antrim Council missed an opportunity to reach out to nationalists and republicans:
