Dozens of local musicians are banding together to try to help end homelessness in Northern Ireland.

Last year five homeless people died on the streets of Belfast.

Next week several bands will offer their services free of charge at the Empire in Belfast.

Promoter Ross Moffett (centre) told Q Radio all money raised will go to the Simon Community:

"We hope the show in the Empire on September 9th will raise as much money for the Simon Community NI as possible.

We believe the price of £10 per ticket is quite affordable for the public given the line up they will get to see.

We were asked by Pete Brady (left) of Musicians Against Homelessness  to help out this year as 2017 is the 1st time the movement has been brought to NI.

Pop Up Presents was created by Jimmy Brown (right) who just recently moved back to his hometown of Belfast after living in Charlotte NC/Nashville, TN for the last 12 years.

Jimmy enjoyed success with his former band Matrimony who were signed to Columbia Records. Matrimony toured the US playing clubs and festivals and had songs featured in HBO’s “Girls”, a Chevrolet Malibu Commercial, the re-make of the thriller “Carrie” and more.

Brown says “after moving back home with my wife and baby daughter , I’ve noticed an incredible amount of local talent so I teamed up with promoter Ross Moffett to put together a show that gives local artists a space to develop a following, try out new songs and develop their live performance
