Northern Ireland arrivals from France must continue to quarantine

From 5pm today, anyone arriving from France into Northern Ireland must continue to quarantine for 10 days at home or in other accommodation, even if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Health officials say this is because of a rise of the Beta variant in France.

Anyone who has been in France in the last 10 days will need to quarantine on arrival to Northern Ireland in their own accommodation and will need a Day two and Day eight test, regardless of their vaccination status. This includes any fully UK vaccinated individual who transits through France from either a green or another amber country to reach Northern Ireland.

However, anyone arriving from other amber-list countries who have been fully UK vaccinated, will no longer have to quarantine, although they will still need to comply with necessary testing requirements. 

This move today brings Northern Ireland in line with the rest of the UK.
