Over a thousand people attend peace rally in memory of murdered journalist, Lyra McKee

Over a thousand people stood in Derry-Londonderry’s Guildhall Square last night singing in one voice for peace in memory of slain journalist Lyra McKee.
 
The ‘Sing For Peace’ rally brought the public together for a communal sing-a-long of songs such as Give Peace A Chance and Bridge Over Troubled Waters and We Shall Overcome.
 
Lyra McKee was murdered on Easter Thursday by a ‘New IRA’ gunman who opened fire at a riot in the Creggan Estate.
 
Her partner Sara Canning was among those who attended last night’s rally and stood linking arms with the couple’s heartbroken friends as the songs were performed on the steps of the civic building.
 
Lyra’s friend Kathleen Bradley said their group were still very much in shock over her murder....
