A Newcastle councillor's accused the PSNI of dragging their heels over antisocial behaviour in the area.

Suspected oil tank arson attacks have been frequent in the Burrendale Park Road and Bracken Avenue areas.

In the 18 months to December 2016 there were seven.

They have resulted in serious damage to around twenty flats which now lie empty.

Inspector Hardy told Q Radio that high visibility and plain clothes patrols have and will continue to be stepped up on the housing estates.

An investigation is ongoing but no arrests have been made so far.

Sinn Fein Mournes councillor, Willie Clarke, claims the police aren't doing enough.
