Robbers armed with a knife hijack car in South Belfast

A man has escaped a car hijacking this morning after robbers were armed with a knife in south Belfast.

The incident happened at 1.10 am in the Raby Street area as a woman approached the victim's vehical and rapped his window.

Two men then got into the car armed with a knife and took the victim's phone.

Despite attempts by the robbers to keep the victim, aged 24, in the car, he managed to escape and run towards the Ormeau Road where he was assisted by members of the public.

The victim was not injured but left very distressed by the experience. 

The male who got into the front of the victim's car is described as being aged in his forties with short dark hair and was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

The woman outside the vehicle is described as being aged in her mid to late thirties with dark hair in a ponytail.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who may have dashcam or other footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference 106 of 20/11/21.
