Firefighters have spent the night tackling a major blaze at a metal recycling business in Belfast.

It broke out in the Duncrue Street area last night but is now under control.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said last night, "Following receipt of a large number of calls, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with a large amount of scrap metal on fire in the yard of McKenzies NI Ltd.

"A total of 6 pumping appliances, an aerial appliance and 44 firefighters are engaged in firefighting operations.

"The fire has been contained to the yard area.

"Crews are utilising High Volume pumps to convey water to the fire.

"Operations will continue through the night and in to the morning.

"There are no reported injuries and all persons are accounted for."
