A Security alert in North Belfast has been declared a hoax according to a local councillor.
Several homes were evacuated in the Velsheda Park area on Thursday evening following the discovery of a suspicious object.
It was examined by army technical officers and has since been taken away for forensic examination.
Families and a number of elderly residents were forced to leave the area for several hours.
Ardoyne Road and Alliance Avenue were closed as a result.
Some residents reported a loud bang outside of a property at around 4.30pm but it's unclear what may have caused it.
SDLP Councillor Paul McCusker says there were reports of a device being thrown at a police patrol.
