A security alert is continuing in the Whitewell Road area of Newtownabbey.
Police are examining a suspcious object and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Diversions are in place at the junction of Arthur Bridge and Whitewell Road.
A loud bang has been heard in the area - thought to be a controlled explosion - though that has not been confirmed.
Local people reported that a pipe bomb had been left on a window ledge but police have been unable to verify this.
