Volunteer search and rescue crews in Northern Ireland have been awarded a share of £1 million pounds in Government cash.

It will allow the Lagan team to buy a new lifeboat and safety helmets.

The Lough Neagh crew are getting the likes of stretchers and radio equipment.

Sean McCarry from the Community Rescue Service has told Q Radio how they'll be benefiting from the cash.

Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Karen Bradley said, "Congratulations to the three successful winning bids.

Adding, "This is fantastic news for the hardworking crews of Northern Ireland's lifeboats who provide an invaluable service - saving lives in usually difficult and dangerous conditions.

"This funding will go a long way in buying more essential equipment and supporting rescue teams."
