Construction of a brand new community centre is underway in Newry.

Just over a £195,000 from the Department for Communities is being invested in it.

The long-awaited building for Drumalane Quayside Close Community will be built near the sports grounds at Albert Basin.

Drumalane Quayside Close Community Association Chairperson, Gerard Hutchinson said, "This project will help us to further strengthen our resolve to make our area a better place to live and provide a place where people are welcome and feel safe. This facility when completed will be for the benefit of everyone and we will provide an open door policy to all".
