Residents in the Lower Windsor area of South Belfast were forced to evactuate their homes last night because of a security alert.
Police cordoned off the Northbrook and Great Northern Street areas for a number of hours as army techincal officers examined a suspicious device.

Police have now confirmed that the object was a hoax and residents have been allowed to return home.
