Three men have been arrested on suspicion of fraudulent behaviour after offering to power wash an elderly woman's roof.

Detectives say it's alleged the men, aged 42, 23 and 22, called at a house in Warrenpoint on Saturday and gave the woman a substantial quote to do the work.

Detective Sergeant Mark Crothers said it's believed they were travelling in a large white van with red writing on it.

"After completing half a day's work the men returned on Monday, 31 July to finish this job and requested extra money. Luckily on both occasion no monies were exchanged."

Two of the men (23 and 22) remain in police custody and the third has been bailed.

Police are asking that anyone with information call 101 quoting reference 1040 31/07/2017, or if you wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

They are also asking anyone who has been targeted in this way to call them.
