Three men escape injury after petrol bomb thrown into house in Ballymena

Three men have escaped injury after a petrol bomb was thrown into a house in Ballymena.

The property in the Fisherwick Gardens area was targeted shortly before 5am this morning. 

The occupants were able to extinguish the fire. 

Two suspects aged 26 and 28 were arrested and remain in custody. 


A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police in Ballymena have arrested two men following an incident in the town during the early hours of today. 

"Officers were in the Fisherwick Gardens area, shortly before 5am, when they became aware that a petrol bomb had been thrown inside a property.

"There were three male occupants inside the property at the time.

"Fortunately, the occupants of the property managed to extinguish the petrol bomb and no one was injured. 

"Officers subsequently arrested two men, aged 26 and 28 years old, on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent, throwing petrol bomb, criminal damage and possessing a petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances. They both remain in custody this afternoon." 

Detective Inspector McKenna added: "This was a completely reckless attack which could have had serious consequences."
