The Southern Trust will do all it can to keep Daisy Hill's Emergency Department open full time.
That's from its Medical Director Dr Richard Wright.
It follows its suggestion last week that the department could face temporary closure due to senior staff shortages.
The announcement sparked anger in the community, with local representatives meeting the Medical Director to voice concerns.
Dr Wright told Q Radio the situation is serious but the Trust is committed to keeping Daisy Hill's A&E open.
