A man and a woman have been arrested after a car crashed into a home in Belfast early on Monday causing “extensive damage”, police said.
PSNI said it had received an emergency call at around 3.45am that a blue Volkswagen Golf had driven into a wall and a conservatory of a home in Dorchester Park in the south of the city.
The crash caused “extensive damage” to the car, the property and three other vehicles in the area.
Inspector Colhoun said: “A short time later, officers located two people suspected of being in the offending vehicle.”
The man, 21, and woman, 33, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including dangerous driving and driving while unfit. Both remain in police custody.
“This is a shocking incident, and it’s only by sheer luck that we aren’t dealing with much more serious consequences this morning,” Inspector Colhoun said.
“The residents of the property had to be moved in the middle of the night, which was an extremely distressing experience for them.”
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw the car in the Milltown Road or Malone Road areas to contact them.
