Two people have been arrested after £15,000 worth of Heroin was found just outside Newry.

The PSNI stopped a car last night and say the drugs were bound to be sold in Belfast.

A 34-year-old man and 29-year-old woman are in custody.

Chief Inspector Kelly Moore said: "The arrests were made after officers stopped a car outside Newry yesterday evening. This proactive operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply of incredibly harmful drugs and substances coming into Belfast, and keep people safe.

"Both people remain in custody this evening assisting us with our enquiries. If anyone has any information which may be of assistance please contact 101 quoting reference 1518 of 23/08/17, or if you wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
