A sixteen year old girl and two men have been charged with a number of offences after a police chase in Belfast.

Police spotted the red Renault speeding along the Springfield Road shortly before 9.30pm last night.

The driver failed to pull over when signalled to stop by officers.

They then followed the vehicle through the Cluain Mor Estate before it was abandoned on Beechmount Parade.

Two people were seen exiting the vehicle and were arrested by police nearby, while the third was arrested after being located in the rear of the vehicle.

A 35 year old man appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

Meanwhile, a second man, aged 33 years old, has been charged with disorderly behaviour and obstructing police.

He's expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on 16 September. He has also been returned to prison after his licence was revoked.

The 16 year old girl has been charged with assault on police and resisting police. She is expected to appear before Belfast Youth Court on 14 September.

All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
