Two men arrested following blaze at Belfast Multi-Cultural Association

Two men in their forties have been arrested following an arson attack at the Belfast Multi-Cultural Association.

The deliberate blaze in the Donegal Pass area on the 14th of January is being treated as a hate crime.

The suspects aged 42 and 49 were detained following a search of a house in south Belfast.

Meanwhile,

A 40 year old male has also been arrested in relation to an incident of criminal damage in the area, that was reported to police on 2 October 2020.

The three males are currently helping with ongoing enquiries at Musgrave Police Station.

Detective Inspector Rachel Miskelly explained, “While our investigation is ongoing, we are continuing to appeal for information about the arson incident, which is being treated as a hate crime.

“The fire, which resulted in serious damage to the building, is unacceptable and we are working tirelessly to identify those responsible and put them before the courts.

“I would also remind anyone who has yet to come forward with information, that the independent charity Crimestoppers, is offering a reward of up to £5,000 to anyone providing information directly and anonymously to Crimestoppers, which leads to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons linked to the arson.
