Emergency services were attending the scene of a collapsed building wall in north Belfast.

The Antrim Road remains closed this morning between Alexandra Park Avenue, the Cavehill Road and the Limestone Road.

A search dog, as well as police and firefighters, were in attendance at the scene.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said an aerial appliance and a specialist rescue team were among responders.

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area.

Sinn Fein MLA Caral Ni Chuilin has urged the public to avoid the Antrim Road area.

“Emergency services are currently dealing with a serious incident at the junction of Limestone Road/Cavehill Road since earlier this afternoon,” she said.

“The area remains closed in efforts to stabilise surrounding premises.

“I would urge everyone to be patient with road closures, and avoid the area if possible as those on the ground responding to the building collapse.”

It comes after police closed a street in Belfast city centre last month over fears a building on Castle Street was on the verge of collapse.
