Causeway Coast and Glens Council decides to put Waterworld up for sale following declining visitor numbers

Waterworld first opened in 1886 and is on of Portush's most well-known attractions. However falling visitor numbers and a need for repairs led the council to debate the viability of the sites future.

At a full Council meeting last night, it was decided that the site would be sold. Aside from 12 DUP councillors, the motion passed comfortably

Portrush Councillor Alderman Norman Hillis told Q Radio, that while he has fond memories of Waterworld, progress is more important. Mr Hillis pointed out that Waterworld currentyl occupies a prime spot at the harbour in Portrush. He added that it was pointless to have the space occupied by a facility that is only open two months of the year.
