Daisy Hill Hospital's Emergency Department was under threat of reduced opening hours to cope with staff shortages.

Funding to the tune of £90 million was allocated to Daisy Hill by a previous Secretary of State.

President of Newry Chamber Michael McKeown told Q Radio it was part of Peter Hain's vision in 2007.

An £8.4 million spend on the Newry hospital's paediatric ward was also part of the plan to make it a super hospital.

And he says keeping a dialogue open with the Southern Trust is uncovering more information:
