A woman has been treated in hospital following a crash which happened during a police chase in Belfast.

Officers were in pursuit of a silver Mercedes after it failed to stop.

It eventually ended in a three vehicle collision near Sandy Row just before lunchtime yesterday.

A 25-year-old man was arrested before being released on bail.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police arrested a 25 year-old man following a road traffic collision in south Belfast yesterday (Saturday, 14th November).

"Officers on patrol signalled for the driver of a silver Mercedes, who was travelling on East Bridge Street, to stop.

"However, the vehicle continued on, and a pursuit commenced.

"The Mercedes continued along Ormeau Avenue and Dublin Road, and onto Donegall Road where it was involved in a collision at the junction of Sandy Row at around 11:45am.

"Two other vehicles, along with the Mercedes were involved, and damage was caused to all three vehicles.

"The female driver of one of the other vehicles was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Police subsequently arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of a number of driving-related offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. He has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries."
